Stefano is a physician-scientist originally from Naples, Italy. After completing medical school in Italy, he moved to Stanford where he first worked in the laboratory of Dr. Ronald Levy, focusing on intra-tumoral vaccines and mRNA therapeutics, and then moved on to complete internal medicine residency at Stanford. After residency he moved to Boston for a Hematology/Oncology fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. During fellowship he was a research fellow in the Majzner laboratory, where he was involved in a collaborative project with the Moding and Kalbasi laboratories at Stanford, focusing on CAR-T target identification for solid tumors with a special focus on soft tissue and bone sarcomas, as well as on the design of antigen-dependent JAK-STAT receptors. Stefano is passionate about the potential of cellular therapy for solid tumors and is excited to make this treatment modality more broadly available for patients. Outside of the lab, Stefano loves to spend time with his wife and two dogs, hiking and all sports, especially soccer.
